1Rue du Chat-qui-Pêche
The narrowest street in Paris: 1.80 m wide, 29 m long. Documented since 1540, named for a long-vanished sign showing a black cat fishing in the Seine. Pure medieval-Latin-Quarter geometry — a sliver between two buildings.
Find it between 9 Quai Saint-Michel and 12 Rue de la Huchette. Walk through end-to-end (it takes ten seconds). The walls are scratched with several centuries of graffiti — some of it from the 1700s.

The Rue du Chat-qui-Pêche is considered the narrowest street in Paris. It is only 1.80 m wide for the whole of its 29 m length.

The oldest tree in Paris
A Robinia pseudoacacia planted in 1601 by botanist Jean Robin in the garden of Notre-Dame's medical school. Now in Square René-Viviani, propped up with a metal crutch, hollow but still alive. Officially the oldest tree in the city.
Square René-Viviani is on the Left Bank facing Notre-Dame, just behind Saint-Julien-le-Pauvre church. The tree is fenced in the south corner of the square. The plaque is in French; touching the bark is allowed.

Roman baths at Cluny
The frigidarium of the 2nd-century Gallo-Roman thermae of Lutetia: a 14 m vaulted brick-and-stone room, still standing, attached to the side of the medieval Cluny mansion. One of the largest surviving Roman structures north of the Loire.
Enter via the Musée de Cluny on Place Paul-Painlevé (paid). The frigidarium is the first room as you go in — go straight there before the medieval art and you'll have it to yourself. Ceiling height is 14 m; look up.

4Rue Crémieux
A 144 m pedestrianised street in the 12th, lined with pastel-painted houses (built 1865 as workers' housing). Photographers descended on it after Instagram in 2017; the residents petitioned the city to ban photography. The city said no.
Two blocks south of Gare de Lyon, between Rue de Bercy and Rue de Lyon. Be polite — actual people live here, and several have signs in their windows asking you not to use their stoops as a photo set.

The Rue Crémieux is a one-block pedestrian street in the 12th arrondissement of Paris, originally built as workers' housing. The street has been widely recommended to tourists for its quaint painted housefronts, and has become a popular destination for filming and for social media photos.

Square Roger-Stéphane
A formal walled garden hidden behind the Hôtel de Sully (4th), accessible through a small gate at the back of the courtyard. Connects directly to Place des Vosges via another gate at the far end — locals use this as a shortcut nobody else knows.
Walk into the Hôtel de Sully courtyard at 62 Rue Saint-Antoine. Pass through the inner courtyard and look for the small gate at the back left corner — easy to miss. Through it is the garden. The opposite gate puts you on Place des Vosges.

The smallest house in Paris
39 Rue du Château d'Eau (10th): one room wide, one window per floor, three floors total. Built around 1880 to fill a property dispute — the family on either side refused to sell, so the inheriting daughter built up vertically in the alley between them.
Walk along Rue du Château d'Eau between Place de la République and Boulevard de Strasbourg. The house is between nos. 37 and 41. It's a private home — don't ring the bell.
