Butte Bergeyre
Five streets on a hundred-metre hump, laid out in the 1920s over a defunct stadium and reached by one road and a staircase. From the railing on Rue Georges-Lardennois the rooftops fall to Sacré-Cœur, with a small municipal vineyard directly below.
Climb the stairs from Rue Manin (Métro Buttes-Chaumont). The vineyard is locked except the September harvest; the view is from the street, best in late afternoon.

Parc des Buttes-Chaumont
25 hectares in the 19th, opened 1867 — Haussmann's most ambitious park. Built on the site of an abandoned gypsum quarry, with cliffs, a lake, an iron suspension bridge, and a Roman-temple folly on a 50 m island. Sunday-morning Parisian families everywhere.
Enter at Buttes-Chaumont métro (line 7B). Walk clockwise around the lake to the suspension bridge first, then up to the temple folly for the best view of Sacré-Cœur. Rosa Bonheur — a small open-air bar at the southern end of the park — is the post-walk drink.
